Cinnamon & ginger {+ caramel icing!}


This was a really good one. The usual suspects: butter, sugar, eggs, flour, baking soda. Plus: corn syrup, ginger, cinnamon and hot water. Baked for 50 minutes at 350 degrees.

The caramel icing was interesting: butter and sugar are heated in a saucepan, then milk and vanilla are added and brought to a boil. The mixture is removed from the heat and icing sugar is gradually added in. After being drizzled on the cake, cinnamon sugar is sprinkled on.
